‘YOU HAVE TO BLANK YOUR MIND’
In an interview with Chicago Tribune on June 13, 87-year-old Shatner explains his role as spokesman for the Canadian startup Solar Alliance who are planning to conduct Bitcoin mining in an abandoned factory by using solar energy.
Thus he told the Chicago Tribune:
The concept is so, I guess the word is bizarre. You have to blank your mind and say, ‘What is blockchain, again? How does mining operate, again?’ The concepts are really strange, and yet when you begin to grasp it, it makes sense.
“It’s an interesting idea to see it at work because … it’s so esoteric that it’s difficult to understand,” Shatner added.
Despite Captain Kirks ignorance for details in his supported science-fiction-like high tech, this is indeed a step toward an eco-friendly mining in 2018.
Bitcoin mining operations are supposed to consume 0.5 percent of the world’s energy in 2018, withal efforts to find less wasteful alternatives.
“From my perspective, we’re going to have someone who will occupy a previously derelict property, and whatever development comes out of it will just make it more marketable if the project is not successful.”
